Augusto Pestana is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apex-Brasil and Minister Counselor & Head of the Economic Sector in Brazilian Government.

Mr. Pestana holds a degree in Law from the University of São Paulo and is a career diplomat since 1995. He has concluded Courses of Formation, Improvement and High Studies (professional doctorate) from the Rio Branco Institute and written a thesis on International Cooperation in Energy, Science and Technology.

Mr. Augusto Pestana has served the Brazilian government in various important roles. Besides, he has worked at the Brazilian Embassies in New Zealand as Minister-Counselor, in Japan as Minister, and in Germany as Head of the Economic Sector.

Earlier, Mr. Pestana was an Assistant Professor of Diplomatic Language at the Rio Branco Institute and a Member of the Board of Examiners at the Diplomatic Career Admission Competition. He has authored “ITER: Brazil and the directions in fusion energy” (FUNAG, 2015) among other works.
