Dr Paulo Alvim is National Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations – MCTI. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He also holds a Master Degree in Information Science from the University of Brasilia.
From 1982 to 1984 he was a project analyst in the fields of transportation and energy. Later in 1985 and 1986, Dr Alvim worked as a Technical Analyst at the Secretariat of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Industry and Commerce. His core work areas were energy and basic industrial technology. From 1987 to 1989, he was SEBRAE Technician, working in the areas of technology support to small businesses and Superintendent for modernization and technical cooperation.
Dr Alvim later held many important positions including Assistant General Secretary of the Ministry of Education; Assistant Secretary to the Governor of DF/GDF; Assistant Secretary of Science, Technology and Environment of the GDF; President of FAP-DF; Deputy Director of IBICT; Head of FINEP’s office in Brasilia; Director of the Department of Labor Intensive Sectors of the MDIC Production Development Secretariat; and Analyst at SEBRAE Nacional where he worked in numerous important portfolios.
